10 Commandments Coloring Pages

Teaching children about the Ten Commandments is a vital part of Christian education.

The 10 Commandments lay the foundation for moral and ethical behavior, which shapes our childrens character and values.

By introducing children to the commandments at a young age, we instill in them a sense of right and wrong, and help them develop a strong moral compass.

Of course, this does not automatically mean that they are going to become the next great Billy Grahm, but we still want our children to have these morals, even if they are not yet a believer.

At least I do, and I would hope that you do too!

The 10 Commandments teach us important lessons such as the importance of honesty, respect, and kindness towards others.

They also emphasize the significance of honoring one’s parents and the value of keeping the Sabbath day holy.

Most importantly they remind children of the sovereignty of God and that he is the only one who truly deserves their worship and praise.

Using interactive resources like coloring pages is a great way to engage children in learning these truths, while also having an opportunity for them to express their creativity!

These Bible coloring pages represent each of the 10 commandments and are taken from Exodus 20 (NIV).

  3. The Third  Commandment: You shall not misuse the name of the Lord thy God
  4. The Fourth Commandments: Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
  5. The Fifth Commandment: Honor your father and your mother
  6. The Sixth Commandment: You shall not murder.
  7. The Seventh Commandment: You shall not commit adultery.
  8. The Eighth Commandment: You shall not steal.

One simple way to keep kids interested is by incorporating storytelling into the lesson. Instead of simply reciting the commandments, tell them the stories behind each one.

This coloring book is the perfect way to do that. For example, when teaching about the commandment “You shall not bear false witness,” tell them the story of how false witness can harm others and why honesty is always the best policy.

For our family, I tend to rotate different printables and Bible story lessons on our kitchen table.

The printables serve as reminders to discuss principles like the BeatitudesFruits of the SpiritArmor of God, and the 10 Commandments.

Those tend to be the ones I rotate and having them on the kitchen help us remember to review them on a regular basis.
